I've become a major Craftsy fan--all the classes I've bought from that site are wonderful. Now I'm doing one of their FREE classes--amazing deal!--which is the 2016 Block of the Month quilt designed and taught by Lynette Jensen of Thimbleberries. Perfect! I'm also a major Thimbleberries fan!
The quilt made with her selected line of fabrics looks like this:
So I went to my local quilt shop and picked out a keynote/border fabric to help me select fabrics from my stash and pull them all together visually.
This quilt got me really fired up because the monthly format is so do-able, so non-threatening, so relaxed! You can only do so much of it each month, and then you have to stop because the next installment won't come out till the following month.
So here is my completed installment for January: the center medallion of hourglass blocks with their first border. The black floral fabric you see behind them is what I bought to be the keynote/final border fabric--which just happens to be a Thimbleberries design! I didn't realize that when I picked it out!
The light fabric is a soft greyed green with a viney print in it. The other fabrics are all rather greyed too, with some clearer golds and rusts to provide a little sparkle and keep it from being too somber.
We'll see what happens with it--I don't have to think about it again until February!
Now--back to McCalls 2123! I think View A is going to be next.
